v  In US, more babies are born in late Summer & early winter fall than in other times. And February is the month when least babies are born.

v  Wednesday is the day when more babies are born in US, than in other days of week. And Sunday is the slowest day.

v  Records shows that, in 2010, the number of single mothers under 18, living with their children in US were 9.8 million up from 3.4 million in 1970.

v  Babies can suffer serious health effects if their mothers have an STD, including death, low birth weight, conjunctivitis (an eye infection), pneumonia, neonatal sepsis ( infection in  the baby’s blood stream), neurologic damage, blindness, deafness, acute hepatitis, meningitis, chronic liver disease & cirrhosis. Many of these problems can be prevented if the mother receives prenatal care that includes screening for STDs.

v  In US, UTAH has the highest birthrate at about 21 babies per 1000 people. Vermont has the lowest birth rate, with slightly more than 10 babies born per 1000 people.

v  In the year 2006 in United States., there were about 1,049 male babies born for every 1,000 female babies & this ratio has been consistent for the past 60 years.

v  It is shown in research that babies born with Cesarean are more likely to have breathing difficulties, as it is thought they may miss out on important hormonal & physiological changes that occur during labor.

Most of them lose their hearing later in childhood.

1] A baby has around 10,000 taste buds, far more than adults. These buds are situated at many parts of their body not just on the tongue but also on the sides, back & roof of the mouth. Eventually, these extra taste disappear.

2] A baby’s eyes are 75% of their adults size, but its vision is around 20/400 which should reach 20/20 by six month.

3] Newborns are more likely to turn their head to right side than to the left side.

4] A newborn urinates about every 20 minutes & roughly every hour at 6 months.

5] Untill 4 Months old, a baby cannot taste Salt. The delay may be due to their kidney development, which starts to process at that age.

6] The inner ear reaches its adult size during middle of pregnancy itself that’s the only sense organ which develops before birth.

7] The protein that keeps a baby’s skull from fusing is called “Noggin”.

8] The intestines of a newborn are about 11 feet long, it’s length will double by the time they reach to adulthood.

9] In medieval Europe, to cure illnesses of babies leeches were commonly used. For e.g., leeches were placed on baby’s windpipe for croup i.e., inflammation of the larynx & trachea in children, associated with infection & causing breathing difficulties.

10] In China, at every 30 minutes, babies are born with sum birth defects. Birth defects in that country has increased nearly 40% since 2001.

1] No Kneecaps: During birth, babies do not have kneecaps but they have a structure of cartilage that resembles kneecaps & develop fully after six months only.

2] Can’t Cry: As I said previously, they don’t cry actually but scream & holler for what they want or need. Tears are actually be created or released after three weeks only. However, in few cases, usually babies shed their first tears after 4 – 5 months.

3] Have More Bones: We adults have 206 bones, but babies have 300 bones, when they are born as their bones fuse together during growth to come up with the new number.

4] Birthmarks: It is normal if your newborn have birthmarks or other abnormality. Overall 80% of all babies are born with some form. The most common marks include Stork bites & Port Wine Stains.

# These port wine stains are usually not harmful and they usually are not the signs of any major health problem & about 3 out of every 1,000 children are born with this pink to reddish mark. They can appear anywhere on the body.

5] Eyesight is either Not much Worse: A newborn baby’s eyesight is as good as an adult’s according to BabyCenter. Their brains aren’t able to process information as well. And usually start out at about 8 to 15 inches of range.

6] Newborns can hear & smell: Whether it is a louder or softer voice they will startle at anything they hear because its new for them & smell is also advanced at this age.

7] Their Full Belly reflects on their Expressions: If your newborn babies small belly is full then they would not entertain any other food served to them, but simply turns their head at a spoonful of food or they show “No” simply shaking their head.

*4 Babies Are Born Every Second - We would be wondering hearing that in every minute 255 Babies are born.

*They can Crawl as soon as they are born. Yes Really!

As per the Research of “Breast Crawl” in 1987 in Sweden named Karolinska Institute, they found that when the baby was dried and laid on a mother’s chest immediately after birth they were able to find her chest for feeding within an hour.

*Newborns Recognize Mom's Voice At Birth - During the birth of a baby their middle ear is filled with fluid due to which their hearing is not 100% upto par, but the only voice they can recognize is their Mom’s voice.

* Newborn Babies Don't Shed Tears – Although their tear ducts & glands are working well but they produce only enough tears to lubricate & protect baby’s eyes that’s why even though they cry alot but don’t shed tears but we can see tears flowing between 1 – 3 Months.

* Babies Take More Breaths Than Adults -  A newborn baby’s breathing rate is more than an adult or child, which is in and around 40 times/minute. 

* Most Babies Are Born With Blue Eyes – Because their eye’s colour comes from color particles behind the Iris & in the main Tissues of Iris. The Melanin/Pigment is not developed fully in most cases that’s the reason most of the babies born with blue eyes regardless of their genetics. By 6 -12 Months Melanin/Pigment is activated by your baby’s genetics which then will be black, blue, brown, hazel etc.
